The Hestan AGIJ42 creates an insulated enclosure around the chassis of a compatible built-in grill. It is used when wood or another combustible material is present within the outdoor kitchen structure and is sized specifically for Hestan’s 42" grill platform.
This jacket changes the opening required for the grill installation. It should be selected before the island framing, countertop, and exterior finish are completed so the structure can be built around the correct appliance assembly.
Why does one Hestan catalog describe AGIJ42 as a 32" jacket?
The 32" description appears to be a catalog error. Hestan’s official product page, installation manual, model designation, and dimensional specifications identify AGIJ42 as the insulated jacket for its 42" built-in grills.
Does Hestan recommend building the island from combustible materials?
No. Hestan states that it does not recommend combustible island construction. When wood or another combustible material is used, the matching insulated jacket and all required clearances and ventilation provisions must be included.
Build the island around the insulated-jacket opening rather than the smaller opening used for a grill installed without the jacket. Provide internal structural elements that keep the jacket level and secure while maintaining access below the appliance.
Hestan requires ventilation openings on the left side, right side, and rear of the enclosure. These openings must remain unobstructed so gas vapors can escape if a connection leaks. LP-cylinder installations may require additional provisions.
Before lifting the grill, remove the grates, warming racks, radiant trays, rotisserie rod, drip pan, and control knobs. Hestan specifies two people for lifting the grill head. Leave temporary space behind the grill to route and test the gas and electrical connections before completing the installation.
Inspect the jacket for shipping damage before discarding its packaging. Remove the protective film before operating the grill and maintain service access beneath the appliance.
Damage resulting from improper installation, unauthorized repair or modification, commercial use, corrosive exposure, or inadequate care may be excluded from warranty coverage. The owner may be responsible for making the product reasonably accessible for warranty service.

Freight delivery is required when packages exceed the limits of small parcel carriers (i.e. FedEx, UPS, and USPS etc.), either by size and/or weight of 150 lbs or more. All such packages will be shipped via a freight truck carrier.
