The Hestan AGIJ30 is a heavy-gauge, welded stainless steel enclosure that surrounds the body of a compatible built-in grill. Its insulation separates the grill from combustible framing while providing the opening and attachment points needed for a model-specific installation.
The jacket becomes part of the island’s built-in grill opening. Internal supports must be planned before installation so the jacket can be secured and leveled before the grill is lowered into place. Gas and electrical connections remain accessible beneath the jacket for final connection and service.
Is the jacket required if tile or stucco covers the island?
It depends on the structure beneath the finished surface. Hestan considers wood framing combustible even when it is covered by tile or stucco. The insulated jacket is required when combustible construction remains within the grill installation area.
Does the jacket eliminate the need for island ventilation?
No. Hestan requires ventilation openings on the left side, right side, and back of the enclosure to help release gas vapors if a connection leaks. Follow the grill manual for the required opening size, position, and any additional LP-cylinder provisions.
Should the grill and jacket be installed by a professional?
Professional installation is recommended because the project involves combustible-material clearances, structural support, gas connections, electrical wiring, leak testing, and a heavy grill head that requires two people to lift.
Plan the island around the insulated-jacket opening rather than the standard grill-only opening. The finished front of the jacket must sit flush with the island face. Provide internal structural support before sliding the jacket into place.
After positioning the jacket, remove loose components from the grill before lifting it. Hestan specifies two people for this step because the grill head is heavy. Leave enough rear access to route the gas connection and electrical harness before fully seating and securing the grill.
The insulated jacket does not remove the grill’s clearance requirements. Hestan requires combustible materials to remain outside the clearance zones stated in the grill manual, including materials concealed behind non-combustible finishes.
Remove all protective film after installation and before operating the grill. Keep the area below and around the jacket accessible for inspection, maintenance, and service. Damage caused by improper installation, unauthorized modification, corrosive exposure, or inadequate care may be excluded from warranty coverage.
Hestan provides a one-year limited warranty against qualifying defects in materials or workmanship for the original consumer purchaser. The product must be purchased from an authorized dealer and used for non-commercial purposes. The warranty is not transferable.
Freight Delivery Details
Freight delivery is required when packages exceed the limits of small parcel carriers (i.e. FedEx, UPS, and USPS etc.), either by size and/or weight of 150 lbs or more. All such packages will be shipped via a freight truck carrier.
