The Hestan AGIJ36 surrounds the grill chassis and provides the separation required when combustible materials are present in the outdoor kitchen enclosure. It is sized for the matched grill rather than serving as a universal insulating jacket.
The island opening and internal supports should be planned around the jacket before the countertop and exterior finish are completed. This provides a stable mounting location while preserving access for gas, electrical, testing, and future service.
Is the jacket required when wood framing is covered with tile or stucco?
Yes. Hestan considers the concealed wood framing combustible even when the visible surface is tile, stucco, or another non-combustible finish.
Does the jacket eliminate the grill’s clearance requirements?
No. Combustible materials must remain outside the clearance zones specified in the Hestan grill manual. The jacket does not replace those requirements or the required enclosure ventilation.
Use the insulated-jacket opening when planning the island. Do not build the enclosure around the smaller grill-only opening. The jacket’s front face must sit flush with the finished face of the island, and the installer must provide internal supports to secure it.
Hestan specifies ventilation openings on the left, right, and rear of the enclosure. These openings allow gas vapors to escape if a connection leaks. Additional requirements apply when an LP cylinder is stored inside the island.
Remove loose grill components before lifting the grill head. Hestan requires two people for this step. Leave temporary rear access for the electrical harness and gas connection before pushing the grill fully into position.
Inspect the jacket for shipping damage before discarding its packaging. Remove the protective film after installation and before operating the grill. Keep the area around and beneath the jacket accessible for inspection and service.
Warranty exclusions include damage associated with improper installation, unauthorized repairs or modifications, commercial use, corrosive exposure, and failure to provide normal care. Warranty service may also require the owner to make the product reasonably accessible.
