Insulated Jacket 30" Grill or Griddle Series 7

Product Description

The DCS BGB30-IJS is a 304-grade stainless steel insulated jacket approved for the BH1-30R grill and BFGC-30BGD griddle/side burner. It allows either appliance to be built into an outdoor cabinet made with combustible materials by providing the tested enclosure specified by DCS.

Key Features

  • Approved for compatible DCS Series 7 outdoor cooking appliances
  • Supports either a traditional grill or a griddle/side-burner configuration
  • Provides the required insulated enclosure for combustible cabinetry
  • 304-grade stainless steel construction
  • Coordinates with the wider cabinet opening required for insulated installation
  • Designed and tested by DCS for its specified application

The jacket gives designers more flexibility when the preferred island structure includes wood or another combustible material. It must be included before the cabinet and countertop are fabricated because an insulated installation uses a different cavity than an appliance placed directly into non-combustible construction. Appliance access, gas routing, ventilation, counter edges, and surrounding clearances should all be confirmed during planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does fire-retardant treatment make wood or another combustible panel non-combustible?

No. DCS states that materials capable of transferring heat, igniting, or burning remain combustible even when they are flame-proofed, treated with a fire retardant, painted, or plastered. The complete cabinet assembly should be evaluated, not only its visible finish.

Can the jacket be used to install the appliance beneath combustible overhead construction?

The jacket protects the surrounding cabinet enclosure but does not remove DCS requirements for construction above the appliance. DCS states that these appliances must not be installed beneath protected or unprotected combustible construction without a fire-safe ventilation system that meets the applicable standards and installation requirements.
